Chief Technology & AI Officer

TalentCo is recruiting a Chief Technology & AI Officer (CTO) for an innovative, purpose-driven technology company operating at the intersection of sustainability, artificial intelligence and financial services.

The company is developing a platform that transforms complex environmental and sustainability data into actionable insights, helping financial institutions, insurers and businesses better understand environmental risks and make informed decisions.

This is an opportunity to join at a formative stage and play a key role in building, implementing and scaling the company's technology and AI capabilities.

Location: Singapore preferred | Other Asia-Pacific locations considered, including Sydney and Melbourne

Employment: Full-time

Remuneration: Executive package including performance bonus and equity participation.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, you'll lead the technology architecture, AI development and implementation of the platform, working closely with product leadership, data scientists and external development partners.

This is a highly hands-on role, particularly during the first 12–18 months. We're looking for someone who enjoys building technology, solving complex problems and delivering products, rather than solely overseeing strategy.

You'll also help shape the technology roadmap, develop the engineering team and support the company's longer-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, development and implementation of a secure, scalable, cloud-native platform.
• Develop and deploy AI and machine learning capabilities, including LLMs, RAG and AI agents.
• Build data infrastructure integrating environmental, geospatial, commercial and financial datasets.
• Translate scientific methodologies and analytical models into production-ready software.
• Develop scalable APIs, data pipelines and enterprise integrations.
• Establish standards for security, performance, data governance, model validation and reliability.
• Manage external development partners and build an internal engineering and AI team.
• Work with product, commercial and scientific stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities.
• Contribute to technology strategy, budgets and executive decision-making.

About You

You're a technically accomplished leader with a strong background in software engineering, data platforms and AI, and a proven ability to build and deliver complex technology products.

You're comfortable in a growing business where hands-on technical expertise, sound judgement and the ability to execute are essential.

Skills & Experience

• 10+ years in software engineering, technology or data platforms, including at least five years in senior technical leadership.
• Proven experience taking technology or data products from early development to commercial scale.
• Strong hands-on expertise in software architecture, cloud platforms and enterprise-level delivery.
• Experience implementing production AI/ML solutions, including model development, monitoring and governance.
• Practical knowledge of LLMs, RAG and AI agents.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, data engineering, APIs and scalable infrastructure.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing external development partners.
• Experience serving financial institutions or regulated enterprise clients, with knowledge of security, auditability and data governance.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Highly Desirable

• Sustainability, climate technology or environmental data platforms.
• Geospatial data, satellite imagery, remote sensing or GIS.
• Scientific modelling or commercialising research.
• Early-stage or high-growth technology experience.
• Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as TNFD, ISSB or SBTN.
